Boris, thanks for asking : )
both RMAF and THE shows were great! people really enjoyed the rooms and i have a year of reviews lined up and a backlog of orders!
at rocky mountain, thanks to the wonderful Art Audio gear the sound was very engaging. we had a couple of sound issues, first being that the room (of course) is a big challenge. i finally understand that because my room is one of the handful of large upstairs rooms the concrete ceiling presents a huge problem and causes midrange glare and imaging issues. this is different from the majority of upstairs rooms which are much smaller and have predominant issues with mid-bass resonances. i’ve been working with some room treatment specialists and will properly address that this year. the other issue i’m embarassed to say was that i needed one more month to get the new flagship system, Ulysses, done. there were a couple of issues which really showed up in a bad room. in spite of that the sound was still good and best of all the people were great. working a room with Joe Fratus and David Gill is a real treat.
THE show was also fun, though i only did 3 days. years ago i would do four day NAMM shows and they’re just one day tooooooo much. we had the Art/Gill Audio DAC & pre and the Clayton M200’s . sharing the room for the first time was Shakti. Ben Piazza is a true gentleman and a pleasure to work with. his products are definitely NOT voodoo and i’m a real believer now! the sound was excellent which was attested by our room always being SRO in what was an otherwise empty show (sorry Richard). if i wanted to raise my prices and stop selling direct i could have picked up a dozen dealers!
i’m really looking forward to this years RMAF, AL & Marjorie so obviously focus on community rather than money that it now feels like a vacation to visit friends. see you in october
