Source for dead soft silver wire...AE Merchants on:

http://aemetal.rtrk.com.au

I bought some wire from them a week ago and prices were better than the usual US sources, as you would expect.

Here are my favourites, starting with our well known "Time Lord of Electrons" aka Hugh Dean:

http://www.aksaonline.com/products/products_Vsonics.html

The next is an interesting Canberra based designer:

Transformers can be found here:

and here:

http://www.tortech.com.au/

A member of my local audio club and designer of audio connector jewelry and other items:

http://www.bocchtech.com/bocchinoaudio/index.htm

and of course, the Eichmann company, although not strictly a retail supplier:

http://www.eti-research.com.au/

Lastly, a very good website with links to many Australian manufacturers is the Melbourne Audio Club:

Hope this helps,

All things Valve try Trevor Lees Audio in Kew, Melbourne. Cheaper than JB HiFi and a wealth of experience with valve equipment of all sizes and prices if you need any mods.

His Speakers are Awesome aswell

Werticus,

I don't know how strong they are on SACD/DVDA but redeye records are very good for obscure items including second hand rarities.

Since when is Werticus a "local supplier"??

Back on topic, I had an excellent purchasing experience from http://www.audiomarketplace.com.au, who stocks (amongst other things) drivers from Kevin at diycable.

Audiomarketplace (part of SGR)
Exodus subwoofer driver, Hypex plate amps and lots of other stuff.

Darcher Audio
CSS, Mark Audio, SB Acoustics, HiVi and Tang Band drivers as well as lots of misc parts.

Affordable Drivers
Mach 5 subwoofer drivers

Soundlabs Group
Caps, coils, drivers, ICs - lots of items and excellent fast service.

For speaker parts I have a lot of O/S suppliers I've used, but I won't mention here as this is a local thread.

Hello Fellow Audiophiles,

Von Schweikert Audio Corp. is pleased to announce that Cardoh Pty. Ltd in Wentworth Falls NSW 2782 is now a Von Schweikert dealer.  Contact Geoff at <cardoh@bigpond.com> for information on the VR-35 Export Deluxe speakers that he is carrying. If you prefer to use the telephone, Geoff's number is 0408 3869 77.

You can see our speakers at www.vonschweikert.com. If you have any questions about our product line, contact either Geoff (or me if you need technical information beyond the scope of a dealer).

We are pleased to announce that Audio Review magazine has awarded our VR-4 as "One Of The Top 25 Best Speakers Of All Time."  Filling in the price range of the original VR-4 model, our VR-35 Export Deluxe is a better speaker and a great value.

Hi guys, just wanted to mention Sonic Art: www.sonicartaudio.com
I have been involved in design since Uni days back in the late 80's and put out a range of speakers from around 91 on for a decade. Cables and filters were my main thing from around 1993/94 on. I had a bit of a break around 2005 to 2011, but this year I am busy rebuilding the website and sorting out the product lineup.

All the cable range will be featured, the EVOLUTION AC Mains cable will be back in stock in the next 2 months, and the website will have a full shopping cart setup to make things much easier. Hopefully a months time will see the website updated.

My parts and upgrades range is going to be expanded, I will be stocking Mundorf caps and a few other brands of coupling cap, I will still offer a large range of Cardas fittings for upgrading components, hookup wire etc will still be available.

I am still recognised as the Oracle service and rebuild agent and I will have all the upgrade parts available for the turntable range, as well as the custom Sonic Art acrylic base plates and other components.

Lastly I am working with another Designer in the USA and will have a new SonicArt tube preamp out within the next 6 weeks, this will feature quality cardas fittings, remote volume through ALPS pot, variable gain circuit and the best feature is it runs off batteries! The power supply will be a very simple 12v 12Ah gell cell with a C-Tek smart charger sourced locally (for c-tick requirements). So far in testing the pre is up there with some serious gear, old and new stereophile Class A recommended products have been used as reference. I wont go into it too much, better to wait till the pre is available.
