How to set up a server
« on: 22 Sep 2021, 10:50 am »
Last year after many happy years dealing with CD's I bought a Bryston BDA 3.14 and have been using two outboard HDD's to store my music. Sound quality (using Manic Moose) has been really good but there have been a couple of issues (for example  if I try to search the database while the music is playing i get drop outs which I assume is that the BDA lacks the grunt to do both at the same time) so I have ordered mysef a QNap fanless NAS to store the music on which may or may not have enough of a computer to work with (if not, I have a NUC that I can press into service)

Trouble is that I stopped understanding music storage when I couldn't fit all my LP's in a stolen milk crate. Can someone recommend a website or a book that might help me with the setup?

You may wish to start here - https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/    If you want something printed perhaps this would be OK (might be a drop dated as digital has come a long way so fast and it is 9 years old) - https://www.amazon.com/Serve-Groove-Comprehensive-Numerically-Mellifluous/dp/0985821701
