Hi James and all Bryston community,
I just ordered SP3 and 9B cubed 5 channel amp as a replacement (and a HUGE upgrade) for my old Rotel RSX 1560 processor. I have no flexibility (room-wise) to have separate equipment for my stereo and surround sound and, since we are listening to music from the moment last person is out of bed :), Bryston - with its stellar reputation for both audio quality and reliability - was one of the top contenders. After quite a lot of research I have decided Bryston combo will be the best for us.  I realize that it will take some time to get these with the chip shortage, but I can wait a couple of months after waiting quite a few years  :D! I have to say that I have not been able to find any 9B cubed reviews or to listen to it so some would say this was not a wise decision. But after reading a lot of reviews and having my best friend - who lives at the other coast now, but is a proud Bryston owner - highly recommend Bryston I have faith :)). I am wondering if 9B cubed is based on 3B cubed amp? The specs look very similar. Are those couple of reviews of 3B cubed representative of 9B cubed performance in stereo?

Hi Igor,

Welcome to Bryston sir. :thumb:

Yes the 9B is based on the Cubed version of the 3B.

I am sorry for the wait but it has been a real challenge over the past few months to get parts so everything is backed up.

best

Thanks gbaby - it is great to hear the enthusiasm for Bryston from all corners of the music reproduction world :)! I am really looking forward to hearing the SP3 and 9B3 in my space :). Don't really care much for all the bells and whistles (all I want is a great stereo sound and a great 5.1 or 7.1 multichannel sound) so, as you said, I think this is the right decision!!

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Bryston – Howard Gladstone – Middle TREX

Hi James

I was thinking about the Middle TREX Active system I recently heard at your home.

I was listening to my own system today with the big PMCs and thought how the sound from your system was in comparison.

The sound from the Bryston Middle TREX  system was bigger and  had a higher soundstage -  makes sense since the drivers are placed at a higher level. "

More than that - the system sounded so effortless… it did not even break a sweat.

I have never liked that Carmen suite (my own taste) as I think the strings sound harsh and grating on the ears -  your Bryston Middle T system played it back perfectly.  So that is a compliment.

The country and blues and acoustic music you played sounded realistic and accurate and no fault could be found.

Cheers
Howard

Hello,

Review in Stereophile B1353 :)

https://www.stereophile.com/content/bryston-b1353-integrated-amplifier

Maybe someone can explain me why there is difference at maximum volume control compared with same wattage with lower volume control.

Regards,

Olaf
