Force XL times two
« on: 22 Apr 2007, 12:12 pm »
Hi all,
Just ordered two Force XL's to arrive on Wednesday, for my combined stereo & 5.2 setup.
I already found out the most even response is when I place a sub...behind me in a corner!
The opposite wall produces a nasty bump at 95 Hz which cannot be corrected by my SMS-1 EQ because I can't afford to go any higher than a 80Hz crossover for obvious reasons.
What are your experiencies with placing both subs facing each other?

The question is not whether they face each other but if they will be in phase (with each other and your satellites) at your listening position. This should be fairly easy to adjust by ear with the Force XL. I defer to Mike on how to best position his subs but it is interesting to note that Dr. Floyd Toole, considered THE expert on placing speakers in rooms, suggests putting a subwoofer in all four corners of any rectangular room. It is the most practical way of averaging out the peaks and dips which can be as much as +/-12 dB in some circumstances.
