SongTowers in mahogany with burst - SOLD
« on: 30 Apr 2012, 08:55 pm »
Satish ordered a pair of SongTowers in mahogany with a special added dye color.  After the cabinets had already been built, he decided to upgrade to the RAAL ribbon version.  So we had to start a new pair of cabinets for him.

Since these cabinets were available, we decided to finish them and take them to AKFest.  But rather than finish them in the color originally ordered, we decided to leave the the mahogany as is and just to a "burst" color on the cabinet edges.

Here are some pictures...

Here is a close-up...

While the color of the top picture is closer to the look of the actual speakers, the flash in the close-up shows a little more of how the mahogany sparkles in the light (an effect called chatoyance and mahogany has it in spades).

This pair is available now and at the base price of $1995 (free burst effect).

These are gorgeous! How easy are they to drive? Would low wattage tube amps be suitable?

They are 88db sensitive.  I am not sure what wattage we are talking about here.  We have run them with 30 watt tube amps with no problem.  But if you are talking about 3 - 8 watt amps, there are probably more suitable designs to consider.
