Hey Robin, listening to that album, too.  Really good stuff.

I would tentatively throw out Youn Sun Nah - Same Girl.  Simple arrangements, virtuosic voice.  Exotic, may not be everyone's cuppa, but I love it.

Here's a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ1H9kRI5RM

Give Breakfast in Baghdad and Enter the Sandman a chance.  Just need to have an open mind.

Ok, all this Coltrane talk brings this to mind for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0YqJMexago&feature=related

Carmen Souza: Protegid (2010)

SAMPLES (sung in a Portuguese-based Creole)

Connie Evingson "Fever" ... a tribute to Peggy Lee.
This may be the finest jazz singer I've ever heard.

I'm in full agreement. Not only do I already have Same Girl, I also have Voyage. I discovered Youn just a short time ago here on AudioCircle. I try and check out every album post, especially if there's a Samples link already available. It's what keeps my library groing while my savings continues to shrink.

Cheers,
Robin
