The speakers in the picture are Dr Bruce Edgars 100hz Titans, and the big box is his Seismic sub. Best most dynamic sound I have ever heard bar none. Only system that can do a pipe organ justice! And in your living room to boot!
The emotion questions come from my latest experience ultrasonically cleaning records using the Kirmuss system.
His restoration/cleaning process removes so much dirt and grime your ears can't believe what sound and emotion is buried in the grooves.
Never heard digital playback sound like that.
I went searching for the EdgarHorn website and according to the
Internet Archive Wayback Machine his site went offline in the middle of July 2013. I did find out his Seismic sub goes down to 20 Hz.
I would like to start at the beginning. What is your digital source? Early CDs can easily sound anemic, they have the potential for great dynamics but tone, imaging and micro-details can be lacking compared to vinyl, the sound is a flat wall of sound, in other words - no soul. Streaming music might be getting better but from what I read in reviews, probably not. Certainly not as good as great vinyl. I had the premium hi-res Tidal streaming service for a year and dropped it. Tidal is great for background music, it's like a streaming radio but the music never drew me in - streaming music has no soul. A FLAC recording of the same music always sounded better with increased dynamics, well defined bass, palpable imaging, more micro-details and more space.
Do you have an eclectic music library or lean toward classical? Your digital setup may be fine but your recordings lack soul. We need a test.
All the recordings from
2L - the Nordic Sound have soul. I downloaded their free sampler when it was available. You can have it. If these recordings lack soul then something in your system is sucking the soul out of your music. Getting the sampler from me requires a little computer literacy. I can put the 2L Sampler on my Google Drive as a ZIP file and send you the download link. The original music is a mix of DSD256 and DSD128 hi-res but most audiophiles cannot play this format. The 2L Sampler downsampled to 16 bit/44.1 kHz WAV files and ready to burn to a CD is also available. If the previous sentences sounds like gobblygook then physical CDs are available to purchase at the 2L website. Not all albums like the harmOrgan below are available on a CD.
https://www.2l.no/I just listened to harmOrgan - Sigmund Groven, Iver Kleive from the sampler, it will rock your house. HARMONICA AND ORGAN - AN UNUSUAL DUO. The world's smallest and the world's largest musical instrument; "David and Goliath" together in stunning baroque pieces and Norwegian folk music. My REL G1 MkII sub goes down to 15 Hz so I hear the full range of bass goodness too. harmOrgan is not available as a CD but there is a link to stream it.
