Hypex FA 501 Setting
« on: 24 Aug 2024, 04:23 am »
Hi, there are three settings on this amp on the back of the X-5 for the subwoofer.P1, P2, and P3. Which is the correct one. Also I think you have to wait a while for the change.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.

Probably these settings may adjust output voltage for the sub amp I guess.

I’m just trying to find out from X5 owners which of the three settings is active. I will call the manufacturer on Monday.

I have the 250 watt plate amps in my X5s but the settings should be the same.  I'm away from my speakers right now but the P1 setting was the setting it defaulted to when I turned on the amps and this was the setting that had the bass equalization that Clayton added to compensate for the lack of box enclosure.  I had asked him what the equalization was, he didn't say exactly but kind of implied about a 6 db boost applied in the low 30hz area.

The P2 setting was the setting without the bass eq applied and it is definitely noticeable in regards to the bass so I always just leave it at the default P1 setting as it sounds much better balanced that way.  I never tried the P3 setting so not sure if it is active or not.
