HAL and Danville Signal will be in room 702 for CAF2024 from 8-10 November.

The heart of the system will be the full production dspNexus 2x8 with the ADSP21569 DSP and AKM AK4499EX DAC upgrade.

Will post pictures of the system as time gets closer, but there will be an AB comparison of passive vs DSP crossovers.

Hope to see people in our room to say hello and give a listen.

Will not know until it is closer in time.  There will be two AB systems.

More to come later.

The A/B setup with Magnepan at Axpona was a fantastic demo of active speaker capability. Hopefully something similarly cool

CAF2024 starts one month from today.

Hope to see folks there to hear the speaker AB demo for the differences between passive and dspNexus 2/8 DSP crossovers.

There will be two setups, the M1 speakers and planar speakers for the AB demo.

I have music requests, since you never posted more videos of speaker demonstrations.

mix4fix,
The AGN II speakers are not coming to the show.  To busy getting ready for CAF2024 to do more recordings.

I can play some on the AB system with the M1 box speaker.  Will be streaming with Qobuz.

The demo setup for CAF2024 will be as follows:

The M1 speakers ABC demo will be setup for listening with selected tracks to compare the original passive crossover, upgraded components passive crossover and the dspNexus 2/8 DSP crossover.  These will be level matched at 1KHz with pink noise to make it as close a comparison as possible.

The second system will be a pair of Magnepan LRS speakers with the original passive crossover using the dspNexus 2/8 to EQ the speakers for on-axis flat frequency response and room correction.  Will use Room EQ Wizard measurements and the correction capability of the dspNexus 2/8.

No subs will be used with either demo.

Hope to see folks at the CAF2024 in room 702 for some listening.

One of the Magnepan LRS speakers needed some frame repair and the soc replaced.  Glued and clamped the frame and good to go.

Removed the damaged sock and waiting on a new black sock to arrive to install.

Have a pair of MagnaRiser Aero stands to use with them, so test fit the stands for checkout.

The LRS and current LRS+ are very good values for newer audiophiles. Most audiophiles have Magnepans in their past or in their present. I still have a pair of MG-IIs that I used in the 1970s. I think this would be a good opportunity to invite an aspiring audio enthusiast to the world of high end audio where they can hear a system they can actually afford.

We are using this demo to show simple things you can do at lower price points. Later this year or early next year, we will have some low cost DSP crossover products that are simulated by the dspNexus and tailored for the LRS+.

Best of luck and safe travels to CAF! Too far to join the fun from Oklahoma, maybe next year. Those photos of everything staged and description of the ambitious plans remind me of a truism for hi-fi show exhibitors:
The amount of equipment taken to any show will grow to fill every square inch of the truck or van or trailer(s) available for transport.

Norman,

Thanks!

This is actually a much smaller pack-up than CAF2023 or LSAF2023.

CAF2024 Day#3 room 702 packing is complete and ready for loading the truck.
