Title: stud threads for Ebony domes
Post by: JJ Triode on 22 Dec 2009, 09:39 pm
Steve,
Can you explain the notation for the stud thread sizes, specifically 8-32 and 10-32?  I'm guessing 32 is the thread pitch (number of turns per inch) but what is the diameter?  1/8" and 1/10" respectively?

Hi, JJ Triode. These are Unified Thread Standard designations, most commonly used for non-metric screw sizes less than 1/4" in diameter. A #8 screw thread has an outer diameter of .164" and a #10 screw thread has an outer diameter of .190" -- the number following the dash is the thread pitch (number of threads per inch).

Hi Steve,
Would you recommend the threaded Ebony domes, with or without dBneutralizer layer, for turntable footers?  I have reason to suspect my turntable would benefit from more isolation, and was thinking the Ebony/dB would be good for this purpose.  At present the TT has some brass-cone-type footers.  I do need something that can screw in securely.
TIA,
JJ

You'd probably get very good results with Cone/Spike Grounding Bases under your present brass cones.

Update: Threaded Stud Ebony Domes have been superseded in our product lineup with Threaded Stud Gliders, which are more durable and equally effective at isolation/decoupling.
