contact fluids for tubes?

Do you have any experience with contact fluids between tubes and tube sockets for better sound in your Lampi DACs?
Can you recommend it? If so, which? If not, why not?

Thank you

Charlie

Detoxit.  That is the link to their vacuum tube cleaning kit.  But you can just buy the stuff separately.  The kit just had a couple of different concentrations of the stuff and some q-tips/pipe cleaners which you can easily buy yourself.

Don't use them! Any of them!

Clean the tube pins and socket contacts with isopropyl alcohol.

DeOxIt is just oleic acid (a surfactant) plus deodorized naptha (deodorized kerosene aka Coleman's lighter fluid), sometimes plus a corrosion inhibitor in the fancier forms.  Ratio is 1:19. Go make yourself a gallon or two for the price of a few ounces.

More info: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=oleic+acid+kerosene+deoxit

No magical properties other than clean metal parts.  Noxon metal polish is also good.  That's an acid plus a very mild abrasive in a paste.

You really don't need (or want) a conductive residue on the contacts, just perfectly clean contacts.  If the residue were conductive, how would you ensure it didn't short something out?

Naphtha is petroleum ether. Coleman fluid is not. Just a heads-up.  :thumb:

Naptha is a sloppy generic term for a mix of hydrocarbons, generally consisting of molecules with 5–6 carbon atoms in the "light" form also called "petroleum ether".  Many names exist in the vernacular for these lightweight solvents.

Coleman lighter fluid is deodorized kerosone often called "white naptha" or "white mineral spirits".

All these names refer to the same G5/G6 hydrocarbons.
