Tube Connectors with Banana Plugs-Is this bad ?
« on: 2 Dec 2021, 06:13 pm »
I have seen in the forum some mention of temporarily using banana plugs into the tube connector receiver as a way to temporarily test, burnin etc using a prebuild set of already terminated wires with banana plugs.  Is this safe..IE will it damage, stretch out etc the tube connector?

What about BFA connectors?

or these

Thanks!

.

Depends on how the banana fits in the tube connection. I think tubes are slightly larger. I would not apply great force, but for break in, I would see no reason why not. Even if a cheeper units for break in. And replacing after. Should not matter to much. But for enjoying them, day to day.. I would loose the banana stuff.

What ever you use in the end game, make sure they are real. Real copper! And not a mix of copper and brass!

I use either Kimber Sban or WBT locking bananas. They are copper and the sban doesn’t have any lousy springs.

Bananas will easily fit into tube connectors.
Tube connectors will be a bit loose in most binding posts, but will work fine with posts that are tilted upwards. Horizontal posts will be too likely to slip out.
