SPV-1 Updates
« on: 29 Jul 2003, 12:33 pm »
jamestanner,

I was wondering if there have been any recent enhancements/fixes (last 6 months) for the SPV-1, either via a new EPROM for the SP-1.7 or a hardware/software change for the SPV-1 itself ?

Thanks.

Hi Jethro,

The most recent software is 43E and has a new update to allow better integration of the SPV1 with Crestron control systems.

Hi James,

I'm not very familiar with the SPV-1 hardware.
Is the software change physically for the SP-1.7 or the SPV-1, or both ?

Do the Crestron integration improvements also improve the
serial interface between the SPV-1 and the SP-1.7 ? I've always had problems with garbled on-screen displays and missed commands from the remote.

The hidden remote codes document on the Bryston website lists some reserved codes for the SPV-1 but it doesn't describe what they do. My SPV-1 doesn't always power up when I powerup the SP-1.7. Can I use one of these reserved SPV-1 hidden codes to power up/down the SPV-1 ?

Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

When you first power up the SP1.7 there will be a 'version' displayed in the menu window. It will say V38 to V43E.
What version do you have?

James,
My SP1.7 is version 39. Am i missing out on some important changes versus the latest version? Can you please describe the process of securing the latest software? Thanks.

Scott

Hi Scott,

As we get input from our SP1.7 customers we try to impliment the suggestions into the next round of software.
The difference in 43E is that the bass management allows for 25Hz to 220 and the 6.1 Dolby surround is available without having to go into THX mode.
If those 2 issues are not important then stay with what you have.

Hello James,

Is Bryston planning on adding DVI-HDCP inputs/outputs to the SPV-1 (2?)

Hi James:

I have installed software version 43E and DSP version 1.10 but the XO menu still only allows choosing from the range 60-220 Hz.  I'm confused.

I may be imagining it, but the SPV onscreen menus seem to be a bit faster. Were any changes made in the software to support the SPV ?

Thanks, Steve

DVI is becoming increasingly popular in this industry.  I took some time at the latest CEDIA show to walk around and take stock of the latest DVI components.  For all the latest HD displays that were released at CEDIA, I did not find one that did not include a DVI input.  There were also a few DVD universal players that featured DVI outputs from notables such as Denon, Marantz and Meridian.  I also read an article lately about a $150 DVD player that had DVI output (can't remember the manfacturer).

So, that puts us in the middle.  We'd be insane if we released a video device without DVI.

I can tell you that DVI is in the spec for our next video product.  I can't say at this point when it will be released though.
