Yep, I have done some design work for Ty.
Welcome to AC.
Nice to meet you Danny. Ty offered to build me a pair of D10x the largest speaker he has ever made. He doesn't build these large models anymore as he says it's getting to difficult as he gets older. I didn't ask but he knew I really wanted a pair and was nice enough to offer. His standard drivers are:
- SEAS Excel T25CF-001 (E0006) Tweeter
- Dayton Audio RS180-8 7" Reference Mid
- Dayton Audio RS270-8 10" Reference Woofer
These are no doubt excellent drivers for the money but I wanted to go all out. So I have chosen:
- SEAS Excel T25CF-002 (E0011) Millennium Tweeter
- SEAS Excel W18EX-003 (E0074) 7" Graphene Cone Woofer
- SB Acoustics Satori WO24P-8 9.5" Egyptian Papyrus Cone Woofer
Ty has used the Excel Millennium Tweeter and Excel Magnesium woofers before in this design just not the new Graphene version. Seems the only difference is the coating to prevent the Magnesium from corroding (which some have experienced). For the woofers I wanted to go in a different direction with the Satori WO24P. He has never used this model before in any of his speakers. This driver is also available with the TPCD cone (WO24TX). The only difference I could see it's a bit flatter/smoother in the upper mids. Since his crossover point is 150Hz it didn't seem of any benefit or worth the extra money.
I don't know much about what his crossover consists of. I know the crossover points are 150Hz and 2000Hz. Danny did you have any part of the design for this model?
Thank you, Arthur
