Hapa AerØ Coax Silver
« on: 28 Oct 2022, 04:16 pm »
A little while ago I was looking for a high quality Coax cable to connect my streamer to my DAC.  After several weeks and trying out several different cables I found Hapa Audio.  I read several reviews and all were very positive so I decided to give Jason's cables a try.  I purchased the Hapa AerØ Coax Copper cable.  Once I added it to my system I was completely surprised at how much better everything sounded!  Sound stage was larger, blacker background, better bass, more detail, very musical, it just sounded right.  Then I read shortly after I received mine that he was working on a silver version.  I reached out to Jason and he agreed to build one for me and let me compare between the two, that way I could be sure I had the best fit for my system.  The silver version is about double the price of the copper version, so naturally I wanted to like the copper one better :-).  Unfortunately for my bank account, that is not what happened.

I was always of the belief that Silver made the music sound harsh, sterile, but very detailed.  What I am discovering now is that silver, when done correctly will elevate your system.  It will also expose flaws in your system if you have them, but if you system is pretty well sorted out then silver will help to bring out the best.  My system is pretty well sorted out now after several years of tweaking and improving, so when I added the Hapa AerØ Coax Silver cable I maintained all of the benefits from the copper cable but gained a blacker background, even better bass, and more detail while still sounding very musical.  I am hearing much deeper into the recording than I ever have and I am liking what I am hearing!  Hats off to Jason for doing silver the right way!

The copper cable is incredible and if I still had that in my system I would be very happy as it was the best coax I have heard.  But the silver takes it to the next level in every aspect.  Jason's cables are not cheap but the way these cables elevated my system make them worth the entry price.

For those curious here is my system:

Lumin T2 streamer > Hapa AerØ Coax Silver > Holo Spring 3 KTE DAC > Silnote Anniversary Master Reference Series XLR > Accuphase E-380 Integrated > Silnote Anniversary Master Reference Series Speaker Cables > Spatial Audio M4 Sapphire Speakers  (GR Research B24 power cables on all 3 devices)

minatophase3: Nice write up.
It truly is a must hear.
Glad you like it and ya, while being a bit pricey, it really does deliver the goods.

Thanks Don, believe you and I are the first 2 to experience the silver coax.  I know many others have experienced the same thing with the silver USB cable.

minatophase3,
I’m really glad to hear that you are enjoying the new Aero Silver Coax. The Nano-polished silver really is something special! It is quite a process to perform. Hand polishing takes about 2-3 hours depending on length. Nano-polish silver takes just over a day for a meter to achieve a surface polish on 120 nanometer scale.  :o

As you have said, the results definitely speak for themselves! All of silvers attributes and none of the brittle harshness!
