This was a very interesting and informative interview! I learned something new (which is always good!).
I was especially surprised to hear your DACs are an in-house design, by a gentleman named Dan (I didn’t catch his surname, sorry). You spoke of the first DAC designed by him. I would like to know which DAC that was – the BDA-1, some internal add-on DAC card for one of your earlier preamps or something third that I have never seen? I’d be very interested in learning what that first DAC actually was.
It’s interesting because your company was primarily known for analogue electronics (even though this changed somewhat in the last dozen years or so) which goes to show just how important the analogue section of a DAC really is!
Also, I didn’t realise you were 78! I’d never give you that many – you look way younger! Let’s face it, you are one cool dude! 😊 Here’s to many more birthdays, James!
