Efficiency of XCS speakers
« on: 11 Jul 2021, 01:22 am »
Hi.  I am still new to all this and I am looking at buying a new amplifier for my XCS speakers.  There are two amplifiers I am trying to decide between.  One is recommended for 88db and above speakers.   What is the type/efficiency of the Encore XCS speakers?  I see the measurements but I can't say I really understand what it is trying to tell me.  Can anyone school me?  If this question makes absolutely zero sense then let me know that as well. Ha Thanks Lebo

I used to drive my X-CS with a 35 watt tube amp.  I also used a 60 watt solid state amp, and even tried a 200 watt amp.  All worked well.  With more power you get a little more volume and better control over the drivers.  But even the 35 watt amp drove them more than loud enough.

I also tried a 2.5 watt tube amp which worked but only at a low volume.  If I turned up too much it would lose control and not sound good.
