We are seriously considering this new online audio show:
https://thehifisummit.com/
Have you heard of it? Will you be attending?
-
I’ll attend if you guys will be there. I think I can pony up $24.

It would be helpful if they provided a list of exhibitors. Looks like you need to buy tickets even to see basic info.

Since this is online, things happen more quickly. Still 4 weeks to go, and some potential exhibitors (like us) are still debating....
-
What does it cost to "exhibit"?
-
This event appears to bring together serious buyers and sellers... and not so much the tire kickers who won’t want to pay the entry fee.
Therefore, the site may assure the exhibitor of potential interested customers while assuring the consumer of discounts on products.
I guess the risk to the exhibitors is that the consumers who log in aren’t interested in their products. The risk to the consumer is that the product they want to buy isn’t being offered at a discount.
Is this the next big thing for audio, I doubt it... but then I didn’t think massdrop would get so big...but if the exhibitor price is reasonable, it could be worth a try.

There is a form to request a phone conference for exhibitors on the site, and also this address for questions:
exhibit@thehifisummit.com
If you fill out the form, they’ll send you a PDF that has pricing.
-
?
I'm not going to exhibit. Do you not know?
-
?
I'm not going to exhibit. Do you not know?
Yes, but in case other potential exhibitors see this....
-
???
You asked for people's thoughts on the cost, but if we ask you what it costs you won't tell us what it is because other exhibitors might find out?
What sort of game is this.... :shake:
Just started this new thread regarding The HiFi Summit (June 26th 2020):
https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=170480.0
We are concerned about the cost. We rarely attend trade shows. The reason is low-to-no ROI. This also can raise prices to compensate for the expense, and our focus is on our customers and the value we provide them. Less overhead from advertising, trade shows, and the like means more for R&D, plus more breathing room to keep our prices the same (or lower). Thoughts?
-
I bought a ticket and created an account. I don’t see any more info than I did before. I’ll keep poking around the website.
*Edit*
LOL, I guess I should have read the last sentence in the confirmation email:
“All accounts are pending until the start of the event when your account will become active. You will be able to access the site from that point forward.”
-
WE ARE IN !!
Talked to Joe, who you might know (50k subscribers), who runs the show, and we are a "go"! This is his channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2jao3bBO9EV3-PF7r2CtQA
The cost is actually not that high. I'm not at liberty to disclose the prices here, however.

At first, I didn’t know what the cost was. Now I know and can say “low thousands” (we were surprised), but don’t feel comfortable attaching a price sheet without Joe’s permission. So, I asked for his permission. I’ll let you know when I get his reply. Thanks.
-
Best of Show will be interesting since you cannot personally hear the systems.

Joe said “....no, the price sheet is not for public consumption. If someone is interested, they can contact me.”
-
Today I registered for the show and started transferring the “data”. Hope to be done most of it by Monday.
We need to decide a few things. Which products to focus on, for one. Ideas welcome (:
There will be a few Cherry products up for grabs in a giveaway!!
Also, we need to decide on “show specials”....
-

Thanks, appreciate it.

Unfortunately, for now, "live" audio shows are on hold...and when people feel safe, I have no doubt they will be back. In the mean time, Joe Mariano has a pretty clever idea to utilize "online access" and give manufacturers a way to promote their products and get their name out there. And it is likely that the magazine guys will write about it which will give further publicity to the participants.
Do, I think it will work? Hey, I'm the guy that thought Amazon was a fluke.
I want to support Joe for trying something new and I want to support the manufacturers who need to expand their market and their customer base and hopefully get some orders.
So, I'm in, bought my ticket and I'm hoping for a great show.

Last day for the early bird special !!
-
I wonder who else is going?
-
Any decisions on the show specials such as the King DTM or DAC DAC?
-
I went out to HiFi Summit's Facebook page and I was really surprised that there were only 20 people who "LIKED" the page.
The website stills seems very sparse on information with 3 weeks to go.
Will they be doing a last minute marking campaign?

Working on it.... Probably both plus a few others. Thanks.

Pretty sure this is more advertised other places, like Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and by direct email. We haven’t sent our newsletter announcing our participation yet, and that’s probably the case for other manufacturers as well. The giveaways alone are amazing!
-
I think the show is being under promoted! What do I mean? If I were Joe, I'd be following up with everyone who has already signed up (like me) via email and asking us to let our friends and relatives know about the show (he hasn't). Also, if I were Joe, I'd be asking every sponsor to send out similar emails.
SVS, OSD and now PSB Speakers are Gold sponsors...I'm pretty sure that (combined) they have a massive contact list that they should be emailing just a simple link to the show with an explanation of what it is and why they are in.
A couple more things:
I posted information and links to the show on Audiogon and AudioScienceReview....those posts got very little traction...either I did a crappy job posting or those site members are so interested in arguing about almost everything...that new things like this show don't matter so much???
Also, the show timing is good in that the industry needs something new...and it is bad because as everything opens up, people are more interested in getting out than in spending more time on the internet.
And finally, there may still be a little bit of fear/concern about spending money...yes, the stock market is back....yes, some jobs seem to be coming back....but every day, the media seems intent on telling us that more bad things might be just around the corner!
-
Or give all the vendors free admission. That would bring many world wide attendees.
-
I’m guessing that Joe is communicating with sponsors as to how many of us have signed up... and given that Joe has 50,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel...the HiFi Summit may have a decent turnout.
-
To help support, I have decided to go ahead an register. Look forward to seeing how this new vision comes together.
-
Looks like they’re showing vendors now, can’t wait!

Update: We are having some difficulty uploading information to the HiFi Summit database. It's not open to the public yet, but we're starting to feel a time crunch....
Show's only 11 days away!! :o
-
hopefully Joe can get this fixed...there are going to be kinks...but the show can't be a success without all of you being able to upload everything you need to promote your products.
-
“Any decisions on the show specials such as the King DTM or DAC DAC?”
Working on it.... Probably both plus a few others. Thanks.
Just curious if the deals will be purchasable directly on the summit website? Also, how is the website upload going?

Not sure about the deals yet, but will ask. Making progress with the uploads now. We're scrambling to get everything in by Friday!
-
Here is what Joe says on the HIFI Summit Lobby about the "giveaways".....
When the event starts, you will find the giveaways on the 2020 Q2 Giveaways page. Those will link to the product pages or directly to the giveaway depending on the product.
-
I’m going to do a video seminar with Q&A session, probably Tuesday.
-
I just noticed JTR Speakers will be an exhibitor, and apparently Jeff is a Silver sponsor, don’t let him out do you Tommy! Haha
-
Geez you folks are just nuts period, we have a major crisis on our hands and you people are going to a audio show ??? Were not even close to being out of the woods people, smarten the F&%k up.

You do realize it's a virtual show right?

Your information/products/giveaways look great! You can tell a lot of work was put into it, some other exhibitors, not so much.

Thanks very much. We still need to add a few things, like Cherry MEGAschino Amplifier product page....

Yeah, that guy must not realize that it's an online event. The power of reading before commenting never ceases to amaze me. :D

Sweet, setting up calendar reminder!

Here is an update for those that didn't buy tickets...
1. All of the seminars are available to everyone....no ticket needed
2. The giveaways page...you must have a ticket to get in...this page remains available to put your name on a giveaway (raffle?) for up to14 days. It appears that you can get approximately 5 chances per giveaway by signing up for all their social media options....as of today...day 1, there are 27 giveaways ranging in value up to $3800.
3. There is a product page...you must have a ticket to get in...many, but not all, of the sponsors are offering discounts...normally around 10%...if you follow the link to their page.
Not sure if there will more giveaways or more discounts added in the upcoming days.
-
It is also worth noting that some of the sponsors, including some of the bigger ones, are offering no "giveaways" and no discounts...at least not so far.
-
As this was somewhat a "first of its kind" show, it was hard to know what to expect in terms of participants. Joe has 50,000 followers, so one might expect 10,000 people to buy tickets.
On the other hand, there has been virtually NO chatter on the audio forums about the show....not sure why...but that could suggest an overall lack of interest.
As of this morning, the most popular giveaways had 1000 entries...and assuming that each person who bought a ticket entered at least 3 times...and in some cases they could enter 5-6 times by signing up with facebook, instagram, etc....I might estimate the overall interest level, so far, at 3-400 people....but I'm pretty sure that will grown substantially over the weekend.
There is a section where you can pick out specific products and vote for best design, best innovation, best presentation and desirability....Tommy, at least you know that your products got one vote!

As of Monday it looks like the paid attendees numbered in the 400-600 range with one more day to go.
A couple of questions....
1. Did the manufacturers get value for their investment?
2. Did paid attendees get value for their $28+ dollars?
Having watched a few of the manufacturers video presentations so far... well done and worthwhile.

Only time will tell.... We’ve received LOTS of interest so far, and almost 2500 giveaway entries.
-
Now that the show's over, I can say that it was a success! Joe and his crew really did an awesome job!
-
I would agree that from the perspective of the manufacturer, the show brought viewers that may never have been interested in a particular manufacturer/product/brand in the past.
From the perspective of the audiophile, the interviews were very informative and pretty well done.
From the perspective of a ticket buyer...many of the manufacturers did not offer any buyer incentives and/or offer "giveaways"...so for ticket buyers that might actually have been product buyers if there was an incentive on what they were looking for...maybe a disappointment. And for ticket buyers that were just kicking the tires...at least there were some decent giveaways that they might "win".
Given the nature of this particular show....first time out, etc., I'd give it 4 or 4.5 stars out of 5...but honestly, I'm looking forward to the day when the live shows can return!
