the oppo 95 is a perfectly satisfactory transport (especially with the mods done by modwright) but i like having the option to circumvent the onboard dac. today i finally hooked up the oppo and the geerfab d.bob (the small black box to the left of the mac mini).
this wonderful little device lets one play cd, sacd, dvd, and blu-ray disk through an external dac, in this case, the line magnetic 32. the d.bob takes a digital stream via hdmi from the oppo, then sends the audio portion via optical to the dac, and the video portion via hdmi to the t.v.
