Is it possible to run the PLC*1 balanced with your special ic? I thought I saw these offered on VPC*2 passive controller.

No, both VPC•2 and PLC•1 are single-ended. The VRX•1 is for VDA•2 only (which has both inverted and non-inverted outputs).
