Did not mean to counter sink it, asked for flush mount, but they double walled the front panel,  3/4"  5 layer birch ply (well 3 skinny birch and 2 thick pine layers).
Would have liked driver closer to top.
Wife agrees, needs blocks to get the highs to your ears.

Maybe couch wide dispersion at 8' distance.

Oversized sealed qtc .6, 3ft3 with 3 lbs of acoustuf.
Golden ratio dimensions (12" x 19" x 31").

Other speaker is the parts express kit "morel solstice".

Actually it needs 3 blocks to raise it to the right height.

Dispersion is limited, 1 pair of ears at 7', that's it.

Next, i need to play with baffle step to increase bass.
I found a graph showing the speaker's response climbs a bit.

And i plan on cutting a 12" hole, then mount the driver on another piece of wood for front baffle (3 layers total, unplanned), but driver placed right up against the top and not counter sunk.

It has potential, especially for lighter music and movies.

Hey!

A single driver center driver for home theater? Well, with full range without xover I'm sure the dialogues will be nice and clear, especially with female voice.

Anyway, I spotted in your first picture, a white chubby furry sound tuning device on the floor there  8)

Actually, it worked way better than my stereo 2-ways.

I instantly realized there was delay on the video compared to the audio.

Sold.

Bought 2 more 2145's.

Making some 3+ ft3 sealed 1 : 1.618 ratios. (33" tall x 20" wide x 13" deep).
Looking similar to fern & roby "raven", but 33" tall (no stand), and mocha stained frame (instead of real walnut).

1st pic is example of black baffle and mocha stained frame (top, bottom, sides)
2nd pic is actual fern & roby "raven" (uses a seas exotic 8")

I actually ended up with this! It seemed to be elevated especially between 1-3kHz which made vocals/dialogue accentuated nicely. I personally prefer a bit off axis to tame a little bit of the shout but I’m quite happy with it.

Hmmmm.

I see a bit of the climd from some measurements on post 25 here.
Wasn't sure about baffle step roll off.

Can you do a measurement ?

Post 27, someone overseas response.

Based on that and my ear, i assumed........

The cobra 2 has a notch, 4.7uf  + 1mh + 3.9 ohm. ( i can crunch freq tomorrow).

Post 13 shows the notch used in the cobra 2 (all in parallel).

Thinking of redoing this project.

Same size, maybe ported.
Flush mounting (not counter sunk)
and moving the driver to the top of the box.

Here is the proposed box.

woof, long time.

Should be cutting wood and box built except for front baffle this weekend.

Perhaps listenable week b4 Halloween !!!!!!!!!!

Friends don't build the quickest, oh well.  Played with a revel 6" 2-way, bought an old Marantz integrated receiver, fixed 2 of my nakamichi receivers (stasis), picked up 2 b 102 eminence drivers should I ever want to revisit the eminence/cat378 I had 3 years ago in the wrong box.

Has 2 blocks under front edge....

Waiting on notch filter (4.7uF + 1.0mH + 3-8 ohms).
