« on: 21 Nov 2012, 07:13 pm »
Hello
I am going to build LS-9,,,,like to make the side thicker..the drawing said 3/4 inch----how big is the problem on sound ,if i make the front plate 1inch  more wide (13.375inch instead off 12.375 inch)
i will not change sound in any way........

I think you will make a significant change the sound by building front baffle wider than called for in the plans.

Total front baffle width needs to be maintained.

Put a really large radius on the edges or cut the front edges back at a diagonal and you can use thicker side panels.

I had one guy curve the sides by milling a 1.25" thick side panel down to 3/4" at the front and back ends. It was a lot of work, but looked really good. And it was really solid.

The inside edge of the woofer is already right at the inside edge of the inside of the enclosure. So to make it thicker it will need to be thicker on the outside.

The crossovers easily fit in the bottom of the box.

PM me if you need help posting pics and we'll work it out.

It's very easy, when typing a reply, hit the "preview button" under the text box, then on the page that opens, click the button under the text that says "Upload and insert an image". Click on "Browse" and find the photo on your computer. Click "Open" and wait for it to load. Done!

It doesn't seem to matter, I use pics about 4MB and they upload fine. The forum resizes them itself. This was 4MB:
