The amp arrived in fine shape. I hooked it up and hit the go button. (Salk SoundScape 8’s, Fet Valve CF pre, Marantz Ruby SACD player, VPI Prime Signature turntable) pic attached.
This is really amazing Frank. Truthfully, I was expecting this amp to take a backseat to my Fet Valve 600R. But that is not the case. Actually, the 600 just became my backup spare unit. I just cannot find any faults with the SET 400. Piano, violin, woodwinds, brass, drums and cymbals, electric and acoustic guitar, bass and even vocals are just incredible and wow is the sound stage ever impressive! From Chopin and Mozart, to Joshua Bell to Chris Botti, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Elton John, James Taylor, Steely Dan and Pink Floyd, all just superb. I cannot tire of listening. It is a live performance or better if that is possible. Listening to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony as I type. Just blown away.
