Hi Guys,

Thanks for your posts on tuberolling with LIO.

I'd love to compare the Telefunken E88CCs that TomS and Timbana are using
with the Telefunken E188CC's (7308) that Mitch751 is using!  :drool:

I'm sure some of you know this already, but I just want to post for clarification:

From lower grade to higher grade:

- 6DJ8 is equivalent to an ECC88
- 6922 is equivalent to an E88CC
- 7308 is equivalent to an E188CC

Other tubes that are also compatible with LIO Tubestage:

- 7DJ8/PCC88 (a 7V filament version of a 6DJ8/ECC88 that also works fine with LIO)

- 6N23, 6H23 (Russian 6922 equivalents)

- 6N11 (Chinese equivalent)

- 6GM8/ECC86 (low voltage equivalent to 6922 that works fine with LIO as well)

- Mullard CV2492 / CV2493 (equivalent to 6922 / 7308)

A minor correction, if I may. As far as I know, 6N11 is Chinese equivalent of the Russian 6N1P (6H1n), which is not exactly equivalent to ECC88, but is close enough to be a replacement in many circuits (given the power supply is able to provide higher heater current). Due to its differing parameters 6N1P provides a somewhat different sonic flavour to an ECC88, and is preferred by some listeners. It may be worth mentioning, that in some old Russian tube manuals 6N1P is presented as a noval tube developed as a substitute for the octal 6N8P (which itself is a 6SN7 drop-in replacement).

Hi Vlad,

I believe 6N11 was a Chinese equivalent to Russian 6N23 / 6H23 (not 6N1P).

6N1P is not suited for LIO's Tubestage, as the heater current required is approx. double and we
use a constant current source set for the 6922 current (approx. 330mA).

I believe the heater current for 6N11 is 340mA (very close to 6922 heater current of 330mA, and there usually a +/- 10% with these
figures anyway).  Yes, "close enough" parameters where 6N11 should work fine in place of 6922 in LIO's Tubestage.
