The above Zaph Audio link had an extra delimiter:

The O.P. Is also asking if there are better designs or speakers, as to how many ohms or drivers are irrelevant unless the O.P. specifically asked.  Other posters are simply giving there opinions on what the O.P. has asked and I tend to agree. It is well known about John Ks of Zaph Audio's contribution to our hobby. Zaphs intent was to make a vertical line array
and add the extra woofers to roll off early and minimize early reflections from ceiling and floor as well as give the listener a larger area of direct feed. If this is what the O.P. Wants, then great. However the N3 is of similar size is easier to design and has great on and off axis dispersion it is also and excellent performing speaker at any cost by many peoples opinions. There is nothing wrong in recommending it and is what the O.P. Asked. Let's not get defensive or turn this into a Zaph versus GR Research thread both designers are valued and well respected in any audio community. And if I could just say one last thing. One of the very many reasons I love my beautiful country, these United States of America, is because we have a choice. Let's be thankful and wish well for everybody!
Hi,

The GR uses 16 ohm drivers and so will give you what you want.
Does the OP have the same need ? i.e. an 8 ohm speakers ?
How relevant is what you are actually doing for the OP ?
I don't think you've read the links from the OP's perspective ....

However the thread is about the Zaph design, and as its a family
of designs using the same bass/mid unit of course another option
is to use less larger drivers for the biggest versions, that is a given.

The advantage of using more smaller drivers is a taller thinner
enclosure, and in this case the directivity issues Zaph outlines
in the description, which is why he did the MMTMM, I'd guess
the MTMMM version then just had to offered as an option.

If the  narrow / controlled directivity stuff does not appeal :

Then by all means look elsewhere for a TM or TMM or MTM.

But he didn't do it just because he thinks it looks cool, far from it.

Hi,

I'm not taking sides. But throughout this thread there are some
misinformed or misguided comments on Zaphs design, the OP is
asking about MMTMM's. and deserves at least straight facts.
