Why is it a sweet deal? Last week I paid $64 each for 2 of these for my new super duper system. Luckily NewEgg credited me back the $20 since I just bought them (normally they won't)

This is a 'regular' 7200 RPM hard drive, not the 5400 RPM slow "green' drives - 1.5TB of normal speed data storage

Also the new faster SATA transfer speed - you are "future proofed" with this drive even if your motherboard does not have the SATA III ports...of course next year it will be a 1.5 Petabyte SATA 10  drive for $2

The price of these is back up to $64 on NewEgg. If you can wait for a week or two I'll bet there will be another sale, but you will have to keep checking!

Pros: Very impressed with this drive so far... reviewers need to get their facts down if they are going to give a poor rating... from the Hitachi website: The Hitachi Ultrastar™ 7K3000 is the world’s first and only 7200 RPM hard drive rated at 2.0 million hours MTBF and backed by a five-year limited warranty. 5 year warranty folks.

With AHCI enabled on an M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 with the correct drivers and bios settings, I'm getting a burst rate of 155 MB/s and an average around 140 MB/s. Win7 64bit etc... Know your motherboard and know your settings to get the most out of your setup.

The drive is very cool and quiet.

Cons: None so far...

Other Thoughts: Great buy if you ask me for a 1.5TB 7200 rpm drive.. 64 meg cache. It's the fastest 7200rpm work horse drive I have ever had and I have had a bunch over the years.

This deal is back on!
I just placed an order ... great drive at a great price! 3 yr warranty though as opposed to the comparable WD, but at ~1/2 the price.

Ok ... i received this drive a couple of days back, and its DOA
Kinda bummed since i was waiting for this deal to be back on, and now i find that the drive wasn't detected in both of my setups. RMA-ing it now. Hope others had better luck.
