From what I've read here that place is infected. Might not be a good idea to click on that link.

I'm a network engineer. My computers are locked down tighter than an ants butthole. I get warnings when ANY site is dangerous. I've never received any warnings from audiogon.

If anyone else has any info, let me know.

Edit - it was infected some time ago. It's been clean for quite awhile.

Are you selling it?

Not me.

I've always wanted one, though. The current bid is $500, but the reserve hasn't been met yet. I expect it will go for about 2K.

Avast blocked malware on my computer a couple of times from Audiogon in the past week. Many others have reported similar issues and a few with non protected computers were infected. Don't like to badmouth Audiogon but saw it with my own eyes. The malware problem may have since been removed but was never acknowledged by them.

I also received malware warnings from Norton and the downloads were blocked.

Well I have to disagree with that,  :nono: my computer has had "HIGH ALERT" viruses blocked at least 4 times  and others have reported such over on another site.

Be WARNED if your protection isn't up to the task say good by to what ever computer you are using to visit.

Interesting. Been visiting the site all week on my Win7/security essentials machine and no reports.  Also using Firefox with no scripts running.

Well, my protection is up to the task, but I ain't checking. It's kind of like testing your flak vest with a live hand grenade while wearing it.

here's where I show off my new prized possession, as of two months ago:

Mine took me years to track down, so imagine my shock when I saw one show up on the Bay last week--it's the same unit now on A'gon. Starting bid last week was $4k. No takers at that price, but I would expect this unit to go for more than $2,000. Mine is serial #13, and included original box, manuals, and extra tonearm board.

Here it is in my Kyocera-900 system, including B-910, C-910, T-910, and DA-910:

All that tells me is that you haven't been in the area of where the virus is, "opened up an area" if numerous people are reporting I would say that speaks volume.

So as mentioned be WARNED!

So back to the topic at hand, personally interesting pics but not Turntable Porn to me. Now have a look at the Micro Seiki 5000 and/or 8000 MK1 version with no vacuum platter, now to me that's turntable porn!  :thumb:

Doc,

You are exactly right. I was on the 'Gon the other night and got hacked. What it's called it Click-jacking. basically they hide a malicious button under a pic that you click on. In my case I was looking at a tonearm. I clicked on the pic and immediately had a window popup that was spoofing as if my computer was being scanned showing all sorts of viruses infecting my computer.

As I looked at what the screen said, I noticed that nowhere did this so called 'scan' have my virus software name listed. This spoof wanted me to upgrade my AV software by clicking their button. I didn't. I brought up Task Manager and terminated all suspect programs then restarted the computer in safe mode and ran my anti virus program.

After that I went to the Mozilla website and downloaded the NoScript add on for Foxfire. It forces you to accept any Javascript manually for every site you visit (that spoof was Java based).

Me personally, I probably won't be surfing AGon any more. Thats OK, I never bought anything from there anyway. I just like to look at whats on the market and sorta keep track of prices.

Be Warned! AGon is infested with malicious software.

That's exactly what I use Scott F.  NoScript add on to Firefox.  At times it can be a bit annoying surfing the web and having to approve scripts to run, but overall I think it does a great job of protecting your PC against stuff that doesn't need to be run on there.

My full version Malwarebytes always updated is pretty sensitive to site blocking, I have got nothing for the last week on Audiogon. Running Win 7 /64 and only Micro Security Essentials.
