This makes me remember how, first as a kid and then later, I'd hear songs on the radio and immediately cringe.   A couple of these have already been mentioned here:
--Dust in the Wind
--Philadelphia Freedom
I'll add some more:
--the Eric Clapton version of I Shot the Sheriff.  I didn't know until years later that it was a cover of the Bob Marley version, which I thought was okay.
--You Light up My Life  and  Wind Beneath My Wings.  (Somewhere in the back of my mind, those are the same song.)

I just remembered how much I loathe "Uptown Girl" by Bill Joel. No real melody, no riff, insipid lyrics repeated ad nauseum. The fact that it is popular is actually kind of frightening to me. I had to resurrect this thread because I think Uptown Girl could be the poster child for it.

That's funny. I actually really like this one by Joel. I like the lyrics and just like the music.

Makes me wonder what some people actually listen to when listening to music. To each his own, I guess.

On and BTY, I really like Dust in the Wind!!!
