Title: FS. Quicksilver Silver 60 monoblocks - SOLD!
Post by: Ericus Rex on 3 Jul 2009, 02:46 pm: Selling my Quicksilver Silver 60 monos. Self-biasing monos using 1 12DW7 (currently JJ) and 4 EL34/6550/6L6/KT88 (currently Winged "C" EL34) each. I am second owner, have owned for 4 years now. Amps are in perfect funtional condition. One mono has a couple of dings on the side of the transformer cover that have been touched up by previous owner (see pic). These are more obvious in the pics than in real life. Chrome on both is near perfect. With original boxes and manual. Great amps, selling due to lack of space for monos and too much equipment overall.

I got your PM about modifying these. I could not respond to it...everyone's having PM problems it seems. Anyway, while I'm sure you could coax these to another level I currently own four amps so I'm looking to simplify my whole system.

I'm most interested in trades for full range speakers.

I've been thinking about speakers lately myself along two different paths: Magnepans & single driver. My VR2's great speakers, but I want to expand my setup.

There has to be someone out there who has a good pair of full range speakers who would like to do a swap.

Post by: Ericus Rex on 7 Sep 2009, 02:16 pm: The tube differences are as such; The 12AT7 is a twin triode whereas the 12DW7 is a dual triode so the two halves of the 12DW7 are not identical. My guess is this tube lends itself better to serving two functions where differing voltage gains are required: like driver and input stages. I can't say what the sonic differences, if any, are between the two tubes. Anyone else have more info for BRM?
