Ok, so don’t shoot me. I’m asking if any of you have tried fuse upgrades and if so, what fuse in what gear and what did you hear? The only reason I’m brave enough to ask is that I read somewhere that Klaus (gasp) stocks some of them. It is my belief Klaus’s bull shit meter is set pretty sensitive so if he stocks them, he probably heard something.

Yes and no....some do and others might be a sidestep.....call me..
-
I will call you. If we are going to discuss things on the hairy edge, I’ll also ask you about graphite/graphine based connection improvement products and cryogenic treatment. It’ll be fun. I’ll bring the S’mores.

Oh boy !!!

I definitely hear clear differences (and improvements) in my Kismet in Khartago case with those I ended up with. Have upgraded all the fuses in the amp. But I'm quite curious what Klaus has to say too regarding choices. May have to call him myself one day.
-
Mind telling me which fuses you ended up with? I have the same kismet/Khartago monos.

I heard a friend's same amp side by side with my own (was trying to use one to diagnose a noise issue in the other), and he had Synergistic red's on the board while mine had stock fuses. His sounded a lot better. Afterward, I rebiased my amp, and that didn't address the differential much. So, then I tried several sets on the cheaper end of things - can't afford to go with $100+ per fuse when there are four fuses on the board and one for power input. I tried some all-copper mass-produced fuses (Schurter, I think), also maybe AMR and/or original Hifi Tuning, and then finally Furutech/Padis. The latter were the cleanest, though they do take a while to stop sounding brittle and come into their own due to the rhodium plating (like around 300 hours!). So, these are what I ended up with, and got them for around $35/each from folks who were blowing out inventory due to their being discontinued. If they ever blow, then I guess I'll have to either invest a lot more or live with stock. I found the AMR and Hifi Tuning to be somewhat improvements, but also could have just been lateral. Not entirely sure on those. I'd love to hear the latest Synergistic Research Orange, but too rich for my blood. The Reds in my buddy's old amp seemed to make a great difference (assuming that was the reason for the sonic differences I heard).

You're on the right track here......

I have SR blacks on the rails and SR orange on the IEC with the recently upgraded Kismet Monos. Huge upgrade.
-
Thanks, that helps. What did you hear with this upgrade?
-
I found the value/characteristics of the 4 rail fuses in the Stratos Stereo.
What are they for the power input fuse?
Thanks

6.3 on regular, 10 amps on Extreme amps...SLOW BLOW, 5x20 mm

Yes, but 6.3's FAST blow inside....if anybody wants to upgrade their Odyssey amps, call me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thank you for the information.

The blacks where on the rails when I bought the amp along with black in the IEC. Upgraded to the Orange. Just more good of everything. Instrument layering, just a more defined sound all the way around.

So Klaus- what brands of fuses do you suggest when people wish to swap out the stock fuses??
And which seem to have more impact on the Kismets- the power inlet fuses or the main board fuses?
-
I put in Synergistic Research Orange fuses into my Stratos Kismit monoblocks and they are Amazing . I got them from Klaus, call him and order some you will be amazed!!!!!

So what was different from stock?
-
The bass was incredible, I have Odyssey Liquids
-
Use the SR Orange fuse and it makes a noticeable difference. Mush more open and liquid. Not cheap but make my Kismet sound even better.
ps. blew the orange fuse have ordered another one. ouch :duh:

That is a concern. I ordered some Furutechs for the A.C. Main inputs for a fairly good price from Analogue Seduction. Will see if those makes a difference.
I replaced the 4 fast blow fuses with Schurter ceramic fuses for cheap.
Can't say it made a difference. The noise floor was already really low. Certainly didn't hurt.
-
You’ll notice a difference with the Furutech. But expect it to sound hard for well more than 200 hours. Don’t give up on them until 350 hours or so.
-
Go with the SR Orange fuses, there inexpensive, and don't look back, there that GOOD!

$160 a pop each for 2 fuses is sort of not inexpensive, LOL.
A few guys have them blow on them which would really suck.
It happens. The Furutech Pure Transmissions I ordered were under $95 for the pair.
Would love to try SR Oranges as I hear good things about them, but I already dump too much money into this hobby!
-
Although the amps are quite new, the Synergistic orange fuses are a pricy, but worthwhile upgrade. Move the amps articulation up a notch or two, for sure.
-
I use the SR Orange fuse in the Kismet and it makes a positive difference.
-
SR Orange are the way to go. However, you need to get at least one value up, this is actually a manufacturer's recommendation.
They work a little different. It should also address the fuse blowing issue.
-
Just to double check, what value fuse are people ordering for the IEC in a Kismet?? 10 Amp?
I am tempted to try a pair as there is a 3 for 2 sale right now through January.
-
Has anyone tried just the rail fuse(s) or just the board fuses? Which were more impactful?
-
I lived with just the board fuses upgraded for quite a while, then only recently upgraded the main fuse. It was too long ago for the board fuses to say which one was greater, but the short answer is the both matter, and not just a little.
-
I replaced the 4 fuses on the rails in my Plinius Mark lll after I got it back from modifications with Synergistic Orange but did not replace the power fuse. I hear a huge difference when I run it in A bias, not so much b bias.
Did the full treatment to my Musical Concepts modified Adcom 750 pre amp and noticed a moderate difference.
Since I use a Tice Power Block / Titan combo for power clean up didnt think it was necessary to do power fuse.
Thinking of dropping a Orange fuse in my Tice Power Block. My Kismet Odyssey Lorelei's sound awesome.

I highly agree. The Stratos Monoblocks are great amps, but replacing the internal and IEC fuses with SR Orange fuses takes these amps to a higher level.
