Title: Dulcet and 30 wpc tube integrated?
Post by: greg7 on 7 Oct 2007, 03:27 am
I can't demo the Dulcet. So, is 30 tube watts adequate for the Dulcet in a smaller room? I've been told by dealers that the Dulcet seems to want a fair amount of power to "wake up". Also, are the Dulcets "bright" or "ragged" in any way from your experience? I suspect they're a bit forward but are they "smooth" as well? (assuming the front end is good, which it is in my case).

As long as you have a good 30W tube amp with a big power supply, in a small room, you should have adequate loudness from your Dulcet. I currently have a pair of Dulcet in a meduim-sized room powered by a pair of VAC monoblock amps( 70W) and the sound is amazingly musical and natural. The Dulcet, with their wonderful soft dome tweeter, are never ragged or bright. They are revealing, so if you are getting brightness or raggedness, look elsewhere in your system for the cause. The Dulcet are monitors and they speak with one voice of musical truth. Enjoy your Dulcet. I'm keeping mine for life.
