RM 200 bias.............?
« on: 19 Nov 2011, 10:52 am »
Roger, is there a way I can add two pots (one per channel) so I would be able to bias each tube independently.  I have over the years have had one tube go bad while its matched counterpart checks out fine.  I now have probably 6+ tubes that are not matched to any of the others so I really can't finish off using them.  If I were able to bias each tube independently I could than have the ability to use tubes after its mate has bit the dust.

Again Roger thanks for this forum...............Bob

The new Stereophile review of the RM200 MkII states that Roger can add individual bias pots to this amp.  It's an $800 option when buying new, probably more expensive to retrofit.  Check out the review for more info.

Rather than add separate bias pots I went with a "bias balance" pot as it makes adjustment easier. I can retrofit one for $900 including the driver mod and give the amp a full check-over.
