Packing My Soundscapes
« on: 4 Apr 2018, 09:09 pm »
We are doing a long-distance relocation in May and I will be taking my SS8's :D. I have all original packaging but am not sure of the sequence of steps to best repack them. I thought maybe this had already been discussed but searched the board and was unable to find anything. Any thoughts?

Make sure the speaker grills on the Accuton drivers do not have any pressure on them. They easily bend in with the weight of the speaker. Better yet take them out and wrap box them separately.

Put blue painter's tape over the tweeters. If you have boxes then you know the plinths have to be removed. Label which is which so you can match them later since the holes aren't necessarily symmetrical between speakers.

I like to place something slightly stiff over the drivers to protect them before wrapping them. The Accuton takes extra care since it sticks out from the baffle. This way when you manhandle the speakers you don't punch a hole in one with your fingers.

Wrap all the grills in bubble wrap.
