Matched quad of 5881’s.  I also roll in 7581’s. The amp is an Audio Note Soro signature SE.

Just did a lengthy tube trial for my Octave v110 and here are my rankings
1. Psvane EL34-PH
2. Shuguang Black Treasure 6CA7 / Tesla EL34 (tie)
4. SED Winged EL34
5. Electro Harmonix 6CA7 / Siemens EL34
7. Tung Sol KT120

I was surprised that the NOS Siemens didn't perform as well as I'd expected. I could probably live with most of these tubes except for the KT120s.

KT150 by TungSol

- preceded by a triode 6SN7 tube preamp,
- and dual-triode 12AU7 / 12AT7 small input and driver tubes in each mono block tube amp.

Provides open air transparency, power, with a nice tone and balance with the triode preamp and amp input tubes in the signal path.

I very recently switched over to running a matched quad of Tung Sol 7581A power tubes, which replaced a set of quad of Sovtek 6L6WXT+ tubes in my NS-40 amp.

Findings: Clearly noticeable improvements: better bass (tauter & punchier) / midrange (liquid w/clarity,  those mids that tube amp owners love) / highs (beautifully detailed and effortless); more open, deeper, and precise soundstage; increased detail retrieval; improved dynamics / power / control. Simply all around better by a wide margin: the amp sings unrestrainedly and wonderfully, and I thought it sounded very good with the 6L6WXT+ tubes.

I understand and respect that some feel swapping power tubes may not help in their respective systems. For me, that was not the case, and my only regret is not purchasing the Tung Sol 7581A quad earlier. YMMV. Happy listening!

Well, guess I'll chime in too. Really digging this pair of Tungsol 6ar6 tubes in my Dennis Had Inspire KT88 Firebottle. The bass I'm getting with my Phase Tech PC3.5 speakers is unreal.

Bendix 5992
2 Sylvania 6J5GT
Western Electric 422a Rectifier

In my Dennis Had 6FLV SE amp.

I think the 6992 is my favourite output tube.  The 422a is simply amazing.
