Jonell Mosser "So Like Joy" arrived yesterday.  Bummer--track 12 has a spot that sends my player into spasms.  It was my second favorite track when I previewed the CD and a major reason for my purchase. The CD looks pristine.  No obvious scratches or damage.

I just put in a sizable order with Amazon.

Here's some of it....

...and here is most of the rest.

I really labored over the decision to buy the Genesis remixes.  I own the 1970-1975 set on vinyl and am happy with it, but I had lingering concerns about the digital audio versions.  At first I was going to buy an individual disc and then see how I felt about it.  But after agonizing over which disc to get I said to hell with it and bought these...

Box Set 3 (1970-1975) on CD/DVD
Trick of the Tail (SACD/DVD)
Wind and Wuthering (SACD/DVD)
Duke (SACD/DVD)
Abacab (SACD/DVD)
Genesis (SACD/DVD)
Invisible Touch (SACD/DVD)

I bought the SACD titles individually because they were available and I wasn't interested in the later period boxed sets since I don't really care for all of the albums from the Phil Collins era.  I'm still undecided about the Live Boxed Set.  All I really want is Genesis Live and Seconds Out, but the former isn't available seperately as far as I can tell.

I also ordered a bunch of other titles:

Happy Mondays - Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches
Happy Mondays - Bummed
Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier
New Order - Movement (2CD Collector's Edition)
New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies (2CD Collector's Edition)
New Order - Low-Life (2CD Collector's Edition)
New Order - Technique (2CD Collector's Edition)
ABC - The Lexicon of Love
ABC - How to Be a...Zillionaire!
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Welcome to the Pleasuredome
Simple Minds - Sparkle in the Rain
Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)
Haircut 100 - Pelican West
Pet Shop Boys - Please
Yello - Stella
Yo La Tengo - Fakebook
Yo La Tengo - Painless
The Cranberries - Everybody Else is Doing It So Why Can't We?
Field Music - Tones of Town
Field Music - Measure
The Outfield - Play Deep
Yazoo - Upstairs at Eric's

These two Mosaic boxed sets arrived today.  It would be nice if I could find the time to actually enjoy them.

These OOP Chronological Jazz Classics titles of Sidney Bechet and Gene Krupa just came in...

This was an especially nice find.  Most of them are still sealed and I bought them for a very fair price.

Broken Bell - s/t

I've given this precisely one listen but I was thoroughly enjoying it.  Not a stretch for a fan of the Shins.

Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record

Again, just one listen but thought it equal to their earlier stuff.  Thumbs up.

(two brokens in one post).

I have been on a music buying spree for the past week and some of my new acquisitions are starting to trickle in.

Here are several 4 CD boxed sets from Proper Records UK.  I own too many of these things to keep count.  If you're into historical jazz recordings from, say, 1920 through the 1950s then these boxed sets are hard to beat at their price point.  Amazon sells them for $25.98 per set, but you can get them for less than half that from any number of reputable sellers in the Amazon.com marketplace.  I didn't pay more than $12.95 for any of the sets in the photo.  These are obviously budget sets and are not going to win any awards for best sound quality or insightful and deeply researched discographical notes.  But a Proper Box doesn't set you back $100 or more like a set from Mosaic does.  That said, the sound quality in many cases is very good, and on some tracks even exceptional.  But Proper Records will not go to the ends of the Earth like Mosaic will to find the best sounding source in existence.  This is a great way to get exposed to some brilliant music for not a lot of money.

I purchased the catalog of Andreas Vollenwieder.  This includes Midnight clear (holiday)  and magic harp (best of.)  His music is eclectic and great.  I also like the quality of the sonics.

A few Mosaic boxed sets just arrived.  The Bing Crosby Radio Recordings is a current release and the other two are out of print.  The Clifford Brown set is on vinyl.
