These records just came in today.  The Anita O'Day album is a huge personal find for me. I have bought more scratched up copies on eBay than you can shake a stick at, and at high prices to boot.  This also came from an eBay seller, but for only $14 I was willing to take a small risk and it paid off.  This record is in lovely shape considering its age.  The sound quality is absolutely terrific and only two tracks have a
wee bit of surface noise.  Otherwise it plays NM.

The Fletcher Henderson Columbia boxed set was issued in 1961.  For 78 era material I generally prefer CDs or good quality 78s if I can find them.  The Fletcher Henderson Orchestra is pretty well documented by the Classics Label in France, but most of these CDs have been discontinued and are out of print.  I found this 4 LP 33 1/3 vinyl boxed set on eBay for $15.  I'm listening to the first record now and the sound quality is pretty darned good.  It was sourced from metal masters and NM 78s, and given that it was issued in the early 1960s there is some source noise and a few clicks here...but all of the music is here too.  So I consider this to be a very worthwhile set for anyone who likes jazz from the 1920s and 1930s.  This LP set probably sounds better than any of the CDs that are available of the same material.

This SACD just arrived today from Amazon.fr. (It is $90 on Amazon.com and only €20 from Amazon.fr.)  It shipped on 12/11 and I was just about to report it lost.  Listening to it now as I EAC the CD layer.  Plan to listen to it on Fritz's Carbon 7's through my Parasound Halo D 3 tonight.

I got this Mosaic Boxed set on eBay of Stan Kenton's Capitol studio recordings from the 1940s on 10 vinyl LPs.

There's a ton of great music here for the jazz fan, featuring vocalists Anita O'Day and June Christy.  Many great instrumentals
are on tap as well, such the outstanding Intermission Riff.  Stan Kenton was a musical innovator and ahead of his time.

This OOP Mosaic Boxed set just arrived today...

This was a major acquisition for me.  I have been trying to get this one for a couple
of years.  Up until recently they have been very difficult to find...but in December
three of them went up for auction on eBay.  Maybe it's the tough economy...

I can't be the only one buying music lately.  I was expecting this thread to
get more participation from other members.  :dunno:

I assure you, you are not...the only one buying music ie.
In my case I buy music mostly in big chunks, my last purchase was about 14 cds, previous to that 320 (last Nov.), no way would I be listing that. I much rather just share what I bought on the 'what's playing now' thread.

You are to be commended though for your purchases(and posting), most seem to be collector's albums from a very collectible era.  :thumb:

I bought one of these from Mosaic right before it went out of print. I held onto it for about a year and then sold it. I never opened it or listened to the discs. They have gone for a lot when they show up.

That was once true, but not any more.  The economy is putting a lot of downward pricing pressure on this stuff.  I bought three OOP Mosaic box sets recently that were still sealed.  Over a year ago each of these were selling on eBay for more than $300.  Paid $90 for one, $140 for another, and $185 for the third.  I won't do Buy It Now on any Mosaic set on eBay because a lot of sellers still think they are going to fetch stratospheric prices in this down economy.  I have been able to bid on and win auctions on OOP Mosaic sets of interest without spending insane sums of money.

Just ordered this from www.deepdiscountcd.com with free shipping. I gave it a listen at www.lala.com and not only is the music truly different and interesting, but I have the feeling this will be a sonic monster as well.
