I can't believe that no one mentioned the fact that Bose is supplying the sound system. It looks impressive on paper.

Ahhh, but the more enticing sound system is behind the cockpit and activated with you foot.

I love it, but no way can I afford it.  I am hoping this will drop the prices of a C7 in a couple of years to where I might be able to snag one.  I have never had a muscle car - had a Porsche Boxster, a couple of WRXs and a slew of small used sports cars.  I'd like to sample some horsepower while I am still able to drive.  A few years ago when I was working for an indie music distributor, I knew the head of Fantasy Records who was almost blind.  Didn't stop him from buying a high horsepower Mustang.

Danny in the world of HPDE you see as many new C7 as about any other cars on the track. Best bang for your buck track car available. Until the C8 comes to the showrooms.

My point is that there are not that many road coarse's out there. And I bet most of the Vettes running them are not brand new. I bet most are C5 or C6's bought used and built up.

I am a long time bracket racer myself. And no new car has a chance against a skilled driver in a car built for bracket racing even in a bracket race.

And yes, those guys are weekend warriors with little experience. But they are out there at drag strips all over the place. Those Vettes see more time on the drag strip than any other type of track by far. So one has to wonder, if that is where they are being used, then should the manufacturer take notice. Maybe in the grand scheme of things it is a niche market just like high end audio.

And I agree, those Hellcats and Demons have no business on a road coarse.

If I were a buyer of a new Vette right now I'd be wanting to know how well the computers are encrypted. So does everyone else in the aftermarket industry.

Actually, that's the Camaro SS 1LE.  8)

We can agree to disagree. Have two of my track friends, father and son, who bought SS 1LE. They always get butt hurt when I pass them in my Grand Sport. Makes for great banter and laughs between track sessions hanging out in the paddock.

The Grand Sport is marginally faster (with Cup2 tires) but $25k more $... and unless you're a pro the difference between drivers is FAR more relevant than GS vs SS 1LE. Camaro has a better chassis for sure, having driven both I enjoy the Vette a lot, but the Camaro's chassis is just more predictable and easier to drive at the limit.

Considering the SS 1LE can be bought brand new for under $40k, it's a far better value for a track car... Here's one interesting take that I fully agree with... but based on VALUE the Camaro is the obvious winner.

No doubt they are awesome track cars. Dad has a C7 ZO6 that I ride in often.

My point was the number of tracks like that are limited so the number of them being used as intended verses the number making passes down the drag strips....  Makes me question in my mind if Corvette should address that market.

Who knows...

Again we will agree to disagree. I am ashamed at how little I paid for my 2017 Grand Sport with only 3200 miles on it. Great values for both cars in the used market. I think you need to get into the ZL1 1LE to gain the superior suspension even though I am riding on buggy springs in the GS. There is a group of five of us in my track group. Two 1LE Camaros, one C7 ZO6, one C6 ZR1 and me in the C7 GS. As long as we are all driving GM it is all in good fun whomever passes who on the track.

Exactly and the C8 is gonna 'wipe 'em all up' ! ............ well some right of the bat and the others down the road in a year or three.

Shall we guess what the Top Dog Vette will be in a few years ? While a lot will say ZR1 I'm going with 'Zora' ................

Well, the new Vette is almost fast enough.  :)

But still not as quick as five year old Tesla S.

I have watched many a YouTube video of the guy with a gutted Tesla wiping the floor with anyone challenging him to a drag race. There have been a few that came to VIR thinking they were going to track their Tesla. Lets just say they didn't get their moneys worth.

I am looking forward to sitting in one of these 14 speaker C8s and listening. How do you get 14 speakers in such a small car and why so many?

With 10-14 speakers in a coupe I'd imagine there is significant DSP use in play.

I'd bet 2+ speakers in the seats/headrests, 3 way in the doors, some dash speakers, and at least 1 sub.
