Amazon Music HD
« on: 17 Sep 2019, 09:06 pm »
Amazon launched a high quality streaming service today, Amazon Music HD.

https://www.amazon.com/b?node=14063680011

It has what they are calling HD (16-bit/44.1 kHz) and Ultra HD (up to 24-bit/192 kHz) tracks.  They are offering a 90 days free trial then it is $14.99 / month ($12.99 / month for Prime members).

Considering the number of us who have Prime memberships, it would be amazing to see an Amazon Music HD client added to the BDP-1/2/3/Pi like with Tidal and Qobuz.  I know there are a lot of other enhancements in the queue, but one can always ask. :D

Here is info about the trial and pricing from their site:

This 90-day free trial offer is a limited time offer. This offer applies only to the Amazon Music HD Individual Plan and the Amazon Music HD Family Plan and is available only to new subscribers to Amazon Music Unlimited. After the 90-day trial, your subscription to the Amazon Music HD Individual Plan or the Amazon Music HD Family Plan, as applicable, will automatically continue at the monthly price of $14.99 ($12.99 for Prime members) plus applicable tax (if you selected the Amazon Music HD Individual Plan) or $19.99 plus applicable tax (if you selected the Amazon Music HD Family Plan) until you cancel.

Thanks for the tip! I've been waiting for Amazon or Spotify to offer this given how badly Tidal's interface sucks.

Hi James,

I thought I would check in on this topic to see if it is possible.  Any chance that Bryston may add an Amazon Music HD client to the BDPs?  In addition to adding another great feature, it might be some good advertising for Bryston, since it looks like Amazon lists brands with clients on their site.

Thank you

James,

Once again, thank you for your personal and Bryston's overall exceptional customer service.  It is a rarity to have the ability to directly dialogue with leadership at a company, be able to suggest features or products, and to receive timely responses.  Also, the fact that you continue to upgrade and add features to your products is also greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi James,

Given that many many devices have the ability to stream Spotify, is this something Bryston is considering for its products? If not, why not.

HI

I think it is just a matter of the time and resources it takes to develop the software for a given service.

So far we have been concentrating on services that offer CD quality and above assuming that most customers purchasing our gear are looking for the best possible music sources available.
