%$#@!& subtitles as default setting on a DVD
« on: 12 Apr 2004, 12:18 pm »
I LOVE the defunct show "Sessions at West 54th" (musical performances somewhat like Austin City Limits). There are a few DVD's of artists' appearances, and I just got Keb' Mo's DVD (already HAD a Best of DVD).

Both of my Sessions DVD's have the subtitle feature ON as the default setting (so lyrics of songs appear at bottom of the screen).  It's no big deal to hit the microscopically small, teeny-tiny itsy-bitsy little "Subtitle" button (well, except that it's microscopically small,teeny-tiny itsy-bitsy!).  But why on earth would they have set it up this way????

Ahh, just love those older DVD's that have English subs turned on by default. Also love it when the older discs default to 2.0 instead of 5.1.

At least most of the DVD authoring in the last couple of years hasn't been as retarded as it used to be...

I just bought an inexpensive DVD recorder and the subtitles don't come on automatically as they did with the older Pioneer player.
