MPad seems to be a game controlling app of some sort at $.99.  Doesn't quite appear right to me, but perhaps it is.

Go to the APPs store and type in MPAD under search.

Not yet.  I just want to have everything setup and ready to go when it arrives.

hi, Bluemark!

...basically the BDP-1 is an "out-of-the-box-and-ready-to-play" unit so you don't really need to download (if any) software to play your files. furthermore the player has the Bryston Max (for computers) and Bryston Mini (for handheld devices), Gnome and Minion if you want to control the BDP-1 via your computer.

software updates are available and should be done, of course.

Thanks guys.  I didn't want to get the unit only to find out I need to have a bunch of software and other things first. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself.

How does the BDP-1 handle internet radio? How would you look up and select stations, and play them?

I think that I will stick to my Squeezebox Touch/BDA-1 combination for internet radio unless/until BDP-1 radio service becomes more user friendly.

The BDP was never really designed for Internet radio so I would say definitely stick with the Touch or similar products if that is your main source of listening.

*******
Exactly...That's the nice thing about the BDA-1; with 8 inputs, I can hook up IPad/Pod dock, Apple TV, Touch, CD transport, BDP-1,  etc. and switch inputs with Logitech.  That said, 90% of time it's on AES/EBU BDP-1. :>)

What length are the power cables supplied with the BDP-1 and BDA-1?
Any real benefit to upgrading from the supplied power cabling on either or both units?

They are 1.5M each.  I have swapped both for aftermarket cables.  I find it gives a bit more in the way of clarity.

Thank you for the info.
Are you using the BNC or AES/EBU connection between them?
I see alot of conflicting opinion on this subject out there. The rest of my
system is running fully balanced, but reviewers seem to prefer the BNC connection.
