Tineo with Wenge trim. They make a fabulous combination.

It looks like Tineo finish w/Wenge trim.

I really like the contrast.

Soon to be filled with dual 8" Scan-Speak Revelator aluminum cone woofers, 5" Revelator midbass drivers, and Scan-Speak AirCirc dome tweeters. Life is good.  :thumb:

Certainly nice drivers...
Can you comment on the choice to use these as opposed to the  Accuton mids
...which were seen & heard at RMAF (with the same wood no less)...or the OB
design seen & heard at last years RMAF.

My customer thought that the Revelator midbass would be a better match for his preferences plus he wanted woofers that could offer good bass extension in a sealed box. With this combination versus the 3D open baffle design you have more output capability and higher sensitivity. The Scan vs. Accuton mids is a matter of taste. Personally I think both are exceptional and I could live with either one. The Scan is a little more forgiving but I think it gives up very little (if any) in terms of detail.

Love the thread title, Rick. Man, I checked this morning and saw nothing, and I get home, and *bam* a two page thread. They look awesome - I'm stoked! :thumb:

To the questions above - I had a hard time deciding which mid drivers I wanted. I like detail, but I don't like it to be thrust at me. I listen to pretty much every kind of music you can think of, and a lot of the recordings I listen to aren't so great. So I chose the SS Revelator mids because I've spent a lot of time listening to them in a couple of different designs, and I really like them both. The 5" versions in a pair of Chinese made Compact XZ-1's which I own, and the others are a 7" version used in the Krell LAT-2s. I guess the Krell version may be a bit different with some proprietary materials or whatever, I'm not sure.

The controlled dispersion of MTMs has always sounded better than other configurations in my small room, and I love the wide open, spacious sound of dipoles. The cancellation effect to the sidewalls doesn't hurt either. As for the woofers, I was open to suggestion. I always preferred the sound of acoustic suspension bass, and Rick informed me that the Aurasound woofers were more optimal for bass reflex loading, and suggested the ScanSpeaks. So after seeing some impressive measurements minus any room gain I thought, Hmmm... ALL ScanSpeak... That doesn't sound too bad now does it... aa

As for the veneer, I absolutely loved the look of the RMAF Garnets, so rather than guess and try and choose a veneer/trim combo that I may or may not end up liking, I chose a sure thing... And after seeing these picks, I'm glad that I did.  :D

Thanks Rick! I'll be looking forward to your next update. Maybe you could snap a couple of pics after you get the drivers installed.

Best regards,

Dean

Rick, a rough idea of the crossover frequency between woofers and midbass?

I can't wait for pictures of the finished product!

Sorry - that's proprietary. Part of the secret recipe.  :)

Now Rick, tell us a bit about the specs, please.
