Sounds good to me, but I would need to know where it might be location wise so I can see how far of a trip it is from Long Island.

Rick,

Sounds great! I really enjoyed meeting you and hearing your speakers at your last foray in the Nasty Apple. What speakers are you planning on demonstrating?

Regards,
Paul

A new array design, the Julietta. An order of magnitude over what you listened to on the last trip.  :thumb:

Hi Rick,

It was good to see you at JoshK's what seems like years ago.  If you are doing October 18th, that would probably work for most.  There is a chance that I could come. :thumb:

We have Nyaudiorave meeting on October 24 tentatively.  No conflicts so far.  Just an fyi.

Good to hear from you again. We came up with a date that was good for both of our schedules and I'm happy that it doesn't conflict with the Rave.

For the October 18th Manhattan demo we would like to have two different seatings so that everyone will have enough time to do some listening. I imagine we can do one say 12pm-3pm and the other 3-6pm. Please post your preference or email - seats will be limited.

Well I made it to the noon session. Topround was there and took some pictures, which I'm sure he'll post. I want to thank Andrew for his great hospitality in allowing us to come over and give a listen. What a beautiful apartment. 15 foot ceilings, a beautiful backyard (too bad it was rainy), amazing kitchen and great food. Andrew owns a BBQ restaurant on 23rd St. and if you get a chance to visit and sample the menu I suggest you do. His partner was 3 time US BBQ champ and the food reflected this. Simply awesome! Hopefully he will post more details about his place and maybe a link as well.

These line arrays are certainly one of a kind. An open baffle design for the mids and ribbon tweets, supported by carbon graphite rods int he back and carbon graphine on both the front and back of the main baffle. Very rigid and lighter than other materials. The main baffle was perched on top of the bass cabinet and separated by some steel plates with a damping between them, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, Rick can clarify the design details. The cabinets were veneered (or constructed of?) in babmoo ply, which gave them a really nice design feature in the exposed edges.

The speakers unfortunately were not broken in for more than about 12 hours, and the amp itself was brand new out of the box, so my perceptions on the sound should be taken in context - these speakers certainly give you the impression that they will be great given time. The potential could certainly be heard. A bit light sounding (the woofer needs to loosen up for sure and the lower mids need to fill in) and the imaging and air are not fully present. Exactly what you would expect of a brand new setup. Maybe we can convince Andrew to host a mini rave down the road once he gets a chance to play with all of these new toys a bit.

Thanks again,
Bob

First, thanks to Andrew from me also.  I got to the 3 p.m. session.  Soon after I got there BobM and Topround took of because they both live far, mandating early departures.  Otherwise, who'd want to give up good food, good venue, and good people?

Anyhow, I echo Bob's comments.  The system is just loosening up.  I can hear the potential.  I'm not ever going to be technically sophisticated as Bob, but from what I heard this afternoon, I think the speakers are very nice, spacious, good imaging.  The overall sound is lacking somewhat in body.  That's just a fact for a new piece of gear.  I could sense the potential though.  The bass I think should be tight and focused.

I second Bob, we should have a return visit, when everything has loosened up.  It should be more awesome.

It was nice to finally meet the one and only Rick Craig.  I don't think you'll find anyone else who goes around to "personally" install his creations for a client.  What great service. He must love his creations.  Can't go wrong. :thumb:

Thanks Andrew.

Rick visited my house last spring to drop off some drivers for a local customer he had trouble connecting with.    We spent a few hours talking and listening to music.  Super nice and knowledgable guy.

I've never heard his speakers but that encounter, plus his obvious knowledge and expertise, plus the apparent quality of his offerings, left such an impression on me that I would seriously consider buying one of his speakers when I am in the market again.

I've eaten at RUB several times since it's opening on 23rd st.  I want to point out that it's Kansas City style BBQ, which taste different than other BBQ styles.

I know Memphis style BBQ is more of a dry rub with  bbq sauce on the side,  what is Kansas City style BBQ like.  Sorry if I'm going a little off track with this thread.
