A/V-1 Amplifier
« on: 23 Oct 2013, 10:02 pm »
I am about to finish my A/V-1's and I realized I don't have an amplifier as it is at home and I am at college. I am trying not to spend a ton of money, but I need an amplifier that will serve the sole purpose of powering the 2 A/V-1s. I was looking on amazon and I am between the LP-2020A+ Lepai Tripath, and the Pyle Home PCA2. Would these work, or am I better off looking for something else. I am trying to spend less than $60 but if I need to spend more I will. My room these are for is 18' long by 10' wide. If anyone has any suggestions or can tell me which of those 2 I would be better off with that would be appreciated.

This would be a great question to ask in Cheap and Cheerful. There are a few DIY amps that will work well for you.

The Dayton Model  DTA-100a T-Amp, Part Number 300-383, from Parts Express is a nice, expensive little power amp. Puts out 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms which will drive a pair of AV-1's very well. Cost is only $89.00.

That 300-383 looks like what I want. I don't need the full 100w out of my speakers since my room is rather small. Thanks for the recommendation.

Why not just have the amp you have at home sent to you?
