Any ideas on a replacement for a 12" Mega Woofer in a Larger Sub?  Unfortunately, the surround has separated from the cone...

Surrounds can be easily replaced, much cheaper than replacing the entire driver. Parts Express has some 12" HSU woofers for $80 that work really well in my subs. part number 299-4020.

Parts-Express has refoaming kits for woofers and can also do the work.  You can contact them for info on the correct surround to use for rebuild.

There is a form to fill out for rework the speaker at the website if you want them to do the repair.

Good luck!

Reconing is the best way ...  If you can do both of the woofers at the same time - that's best - then they match. Keep in mind that they will need some break in time.

I HIGHLY suggest taking advantage of having someone do it for you. They have jigs and keep everything aligned. If you've never done one, it can be a bit of a challenge.

Thanks,
Mark

Did the 12" Mega Woofer use rubber surrounds?  If so, if intact, I'd just reglue it.  If foam, and it's deteriorated, then it's relatively easy to refoam.  Twelve inch foam kits are available, as well as instructional videos, on YouTube.  But, if you'd rather have the sub repaired professionally, contact Bill LeGall, at Millersound.  Bill is the best in the business, and reasonable too.  Call and set up the  repair, send the woofer, and Bill does the rest.

Contact AC member Pat Malaga.  He may have some suitable VMPS woofers.
