Your method of using DeoxIT?
« on: 18 Aug 2010, 11:56 am »
I found a couple of connectors that had some dirt on them.  I used DeoxIT and it worked well but am curious to know how everyone else uses it.

So, how do you clean RCA, XLR......?

Simple: apply, wipe it off, and listen

Wipe it on with the little brush in the cap, wipe it off with a Q-tip.  If there's black oxide on the Q-tip, repeat.  Leave the part visibly dry (no residual DeOxit).

Just about 10 years ago I used Caig Pro-Gold to treat the headshell pins on my Thorens TD-160.  http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=speakers&n=285102&highlight=Thorens+Pro+Gold+psp&r=

The TD-160 is still hum-free and sounds great after all these years with just that one treatment.  I still use DeOxit and Pro Gold from time to time to address spooky connections in lab equipment.
