Is Herbies Audio Lab still in business?
« on: 14 Apr 2022, 06:03 pm »
Hello all;

I have e-mailed and called Herbies with no replies.  Are they still in business?

I am looking for advice on their decouplers/gliders for my X-5's which weigh 95 Lbs. each.  Are their standard Gliders OK for that weight, or do I need to go to the large ones?  Their site is no help as they do not specify any weight limits.   :scratch:

Giant fat glider would work. Spikes and protective couplers better. Gaia feet best.

I think they are now a part time operation run by the founder's son.

depatters;  I'm looking at the decouplers/sliders that go under the Spatial spikes.  Gaia feet are twice the cost of the standard Herbies.

avta;  Their site does not answer my question because it does not include weight limits for the standard size vs. the larger ones.

To all;  Thanks for the responses!  Right now I am hesitant to send Herbies an order before I have contact with them, and get an answer.

Why not just ring them on the phone?

I ordered and received a set of standard sliders a couple of weeks ago for my M4 which are 50 lbs.  I believe I spoke to Dan who told me the standard slides are rated at 50 lbs each.  If you expect to actually slide Dan recommended the threaded glides.  If you want to go that route I’d recommend you verify the Spike threads.  Herbies has a 1/4-20 option.  The M4 spike threaded up to a 1/4-28 nut so I had to go with the regular glides.  I like the look anyway but I definitely can not slide on carpet more than a couple of inches before the spikes roll off the glides.
You’ll get an email response but it may take a few daze to get a response.  I just happened to call and catch him in.

I just ordered from them twice over the past month, they are still in business and offer high quality and value without having to shell out a lot of money for those who advertise heavily in the magazines. The Tenderfeet really work great on all gear, sonics tone stays the same but with improvements to the presentation as far as just making what you have better without the over brightness or fat bass like most do. Take what you like and just think improvements without the tone changes.
