Vancouver Audionuts Meeting
« on: 27 Jan 2003, 03:56 pm »
Hello!

On Feb 8th I'll be hosting a meeting for any audionuts around the Vancouver area. We used to hold a semi-regular meeting here a few years back and since I've been doing the work with S&B I've discovered 3 or 4 'groups' around town and this meeting will hopefully bring us all together in one place and from there we could hold a semi-regular meeting once again!

A lot of the guys tend to be into DIY stuff but anyone is welcome to come. We'll have 2 rooms to set stuff up and can measure any gear you want to bring along on the Audio Precision System 2 or on MLSSA for speakers. Two speakers I hope to have here for that day are the Lambda Unities (go Bill go!) and the GR Research Criterion that CCS (that makes woofers for Danny at GR research - used to be in eastern Canada and is now local firm http://www.creativesound.ca/ ) might be able to bring.

I'll have the GR Alpha's here and also I finally have my turntable setup - Redpoint table with Morch arm and Allaerts cart. Phono stage is Kevin Carters (K audio) kit with TX103's for stepups.

The plan is to get started at about 12:00 and then go at it for the afternoon. I'll take care of lunch and drinks - just bring some tunes and any gear you want to measure or play with.  Please e-mail john@bentaudio.com or call (604)538-9812 to let me know if you are attending so I can get a handle on how many folks to expect.

Many Thanks!

John, that sounds like a lot of fun!  I live in the Surrey area as well.  I've heard your TX-102 preamp with the Ellis 1801s, and it was quite amazing.  The band was right there, no 'veils' inbetween.  And not to forget the incredible bass!

Hello!

Al had said you got down to his place but although I recognized the Ravi name from the boards I did not know you were so close to here! I hope you can make it and if not then please e-mail and drop by some other time.

Many Thanks!

John,

Its good to know a local guy is behind such a great product.  I'm going to try my best to be there.  I'm very interested in hearing the Criterion and the Alphas.  And ofcourse, your Pre!

Hello!

Just a quick update! We'll have a good sized goup at the meeting - more people than chairs for sure! Latest count shows about 30 people who I've send directions too.  I'm not sure if the Lambda's will be ready in time but I think the Criterion from creative will make an appearance and someone mentioned an MTM they were bringing and I heard an Ellis 1801 might make an apearance as well. One fellow was bringing some Berning amps and I've been curious about those as well.

Should be fun and we'll get going about 12:00 and likely go until about 5:00 or so.

Many THanks!
