32" Speaker Stands
« on: 30 Dec 2014, 11:18 pm »
Hi, all!

I'm looking for a pair of heavy-duty 32" speaker stands (for speakers that weigh about 42 pounds each).  Any recommendations for $250 and under would be great (but may be willing to spend more).

I have a pair of 35" stands and they are a bit too tall for use at my desk (Emotiva Stealth 8s).

Thanks in advance,

p

I have no experience with these stands so I cannot comment on the quality.

32"  http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PGLS200&variation=32 $77.77/pair
31"  http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SABF&variation=31BLK  $49.99

Check out the other Pangea speaker stand models on Audio Advisor.  They might be more to your liking but I did not see any others that were exactly 32".

Crap, after posting the info I realize their weight capacity is too low for your speakers. I will leave the information in case it helps someone else.

Good luck.

Saw those.  Thanks for the recommendations, but my speakers are too heavy for those.  Was a bit of an issue about a year ago when I got my speakers and it seemingly still is so.

I think it's going to be a tough find as speakers that weigh 42 lbs are typically larger and thus have smaller stands. These Pangeas will support the weight but are too short. Perhaps someone can do a custom pair or you can figure out way to add four inches to them.

Good luck.

You can make a set of these for about $250 in materials from 80/20.  The legs are shot loadable and you can substitute urethane bumpers for the spikes.

mhconley,  where did you get the extruded square tubing from?  Those are nifty stands and I could do other things with some of that material.

It's from 80/20.  I tried to start a business making audio stands a few years ago but never got it off the ground, even after exhibiting at RMAF.

It's available in many anodized colors...

Can an individual buy small lots of 80/20 products?
Or do you have to go through an industrial distributor?

They sell individual components on eBay.  For custom cut lengths you need to go through one of their distributors.
