EICO HF-81 with GR Research Speakers
« on: 6 Apr 2012, 04:42 pm »
I've got a EICO HF-81 int. Amp and would like to connect it to a pair of GR speakers. Which speaker model will be the best match for the system?

"Voicing" aside, the fact that the amp puts out only about 15W means that it would be a better match for one of the higher-efficiency speakers.

Have you seen this review?

I agree with LB something with high efficiency like the 12" V series. If you're not into OB there was one member who built them into cabinets.

I can speak from experience on this topic.  I've matched a pair of Eico HF-12s, the mono equivilent of the 81 with the AV3's, the AV1's, and the Neo2x.  It provides all you could possible want on the first two, and covers 95+% of your power need with the latter.  They are very nice little amps and will power anything that Danny makes outside of the LS series.
